Finding that "me-time" in Jersey City Heights can feel like a mission, especially when you're balancing school runs and playground dates, but there are some incredible sanctuaries specifically designed to help us moms reset.

Here are three yoga spots in the Heights that are doing amazing things for our local parent community.

1. Sol Spirit Yoga & Wellness (Palisade Ave)

The Vibe: Pure, inclusive warmth. As a woman and Latina-owned studio, Sol Spirit feels like walking into a friend’s sunny living room. It’s vibrant, welcoming, and has been voted the best in JC for a reason.

Why it’s special for moms: They have a dedicated Mama Strength Postnatal + Baby class that is a total lifesaver. You can bring your little one, work on your core/pelvic floor, and bond through baby massage—all while surrounded by other moms who totally "get it" if your baby decides to have a meltdown mid-downward dog.

What to try: Their Yin + Mini Sound Bath. If you’ve had a week of heavy lifting (toddlers or grocery bags), the deep stretching combined with the healing frequencies of crystal bowls is the ultimate nervous system reset.

2. Yoga Empowerment Studio of New Jersey (Summit Ave)

The Vibe: Empowering, spiritual, and community-driven. This studio is tucked away on Summit Ave and focuses on yoga as a tool for personal growth and "resetting" your life. It feels less like a gym and more like a sanctuary for the soul.

Why it’s special for moms: They host a monthly Saturday RESET (both in-person and virtual) specifically for women to gather, reflect, and "release what’s heavy." It’s a beautiful space for moms to reconnect with themselves outside of their "Mom" identity.

What to try: Their Traditional Hatha or Open Level classes. The instructors are fantastic at offering modifications, making it a "no-judgment zone" if you haven't been on a mat since before your first trimester.

3. Roots Yoga Studio (Journal Square/Heights Border)

The Vibe: Intimate, focused, and healing. Located just a quick hop from the Heights on JFK Blvd, this studio (formerly Sacred Souls) is run by Komal, who treats every class like a moving meditation.

Why it’s special for moms: Because the classes are smaller, you get incredible individual attention. It’s perfect if you’re dealing with postpartum injuries or just want to make sure your alignment is safe. It’s quiet and serene—the perfect antidote to the chaotic energy of a family household.

What to try: Beginner Hatha. It’s gentle, focuses on breathwork (pranayama), and is designed to help you release mental distractions—something every mom needs.

Mom-to-Mom Tip: Most of these spots offer "New Student" specials. Sol Spirit often has a 3-class pack for $48, which is a great way to test the waters before committing to a full membership!
