If there is one thing that can turn a "meltdown morning" into a "magic morning," it’s a carousel. Luckily for us, Jersey City is perfectly positioned to reach some of the most beautiful carousels in the area without ever needing a car seat.
Here is your guide to the best spins, ranked from literally in our backyard to those worth a short train ride.
1. Newport Green Carousel
You can't get any closer than this! Tucked inside the beautiful Newport Green park, this charming carousel is the neighborhood's best-kept secret for an easy afternoon activity.
Nearest Station: Newport PATH or Newport Light Rail (about a 5-7 minute walk).
Cost: $4 per ride.
Why we love it: It’s steps away from the "urban beach" and the splash pad. You can grab a coffee at bwè kafe and be at the ticket booth in minutes.

2. The Hudson River Park Carousel (Pier 62)
This is our favorite "over the river" spot because it’s just one PATH stop away! It features 33 custom-designed animals like turtles and bears.
Nearest Station: Christopher St. PATH (then a lovely 10-minute walk west to the river).
Cost: $3.50 per ride.
Why we love it: The Pier 62 skate park and play area are right next door, making it a great multi-activity stop.

3. Le Carrousel at Bryant Park
This one feels like a trip to Paris, designed to complement the park's French classical style—complete with French cabaret music!
Nearest Station: 33rd St. PATH (then a 10-minute walk north to 42nd St).
Cost: $4 per ride.
Why we love it: It’s shaded by beautiful trees, and in the winter, you’re right next to the Holiday Village and ice skating.

4. SeaGlass Carousel at The Battery
If you want a "wow" factor, this is it. You sit inside massive, glowing fiberglass fish that change colors. It feels like an underwater dance.
Nearest Station: World Trade Center PATH (then a 15-minute walk south through the park).
Cost: $6 per ride.
Why we love it: There are no poles! The fish move on individual turntables, so it feels like you’re actually swimming.

5. Jane’s Carousel (DUMBO)
A stunningly restored 1922 carousel housed in a glass pavilion. Rain or shine, the views of the Brooklyn Bridge from here are unbeatable.
Nearest Station: PATH to WTC, then hop on the NYC Ferry from Battery Park City to DUMBO.
Cost: $3 per ride.
Why we love it: It’s climate-controlled! It’s the perfect "fancy" indoor activity for a chilly or rainy day.
